David Huntsman grew up here in Madison, Wisconsin. During his high school years, he was the concertmaster for the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra's top "Youth" ensemble. He received honorable mention in many of the major area competitions including those for the Madison and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras. Former teachers (who he would like to thank for their hard work and dedication) include Beth Getman and Eugene Purdue.
David currently plays in a wide array of ensembles including the UW-Symphony Orchestra (for which he is co-concertmaster), and the contemporary choir at Our Lady Queen of Peace parish. He also plays as a member of the Bravidade String Quartet, which five years ago placed in the top six groups of the junior division at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The placement earned them sponsorship as U.S. representation in the Fjord Cadenza Music Festival in Skodje , Norway .
David is currently studying with Professor Tyrone Greive at UW-Madison on full scholarship, and hopes to go on to graduate school after earning a B.M. degree in violin performance. Above all, he would like to thank his teachers, patrons, and especially his parents, Bill and Randi, for helping see him this far.
