• 1988 - October 15 marks first performance with the Very Special Arts Band, 75 students with developmental disabilities. Band tribute to the great circus heritage of Wisconsin ends up with Molly the elephant "taking an encore" on the 50-yard line.
  • 1989 - Band performs for first time ever at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin and the band was greeted with so much enthusiasm that concession sales hit an all-time low. Nearly the whole crowd stayed for the 40-minute 5th Quarter prompting traffic officials to ask "What happened to the crowd?"
  • 1990 - Band performs at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit at the Badger Hockey team wins NCAA Championship. Marching Band receives lavish praise from the Iowa press after performing at Kinnick Stadium. Tonight Show Band drummer, Ed Shaughnessy performs with the Band during Very Special Arts Day. The Washington Post offered up a story on the Wisconsin Band stating, "One of these days, the University of Wisconsin is going to field Band at Coca-Cola Bowl in Japan a football team that the Marching Band can be proud of."
  • 1991 - Ken Werner, Jr. and Jill Dixon were married on the fifty yard line after the Band's halftime performance. World renowned trumpet player Randy Brecker appears with the Marching Band. Band performs on Thursday Night Football game on TNT.
  • 1992 - Band travels to Seattle and performs on the USS Nimitz, the largest aircraft carrier in the US fleet. They also perform a concert for 2,000 under the Space Needle. Playboy Magazine names the Wisconsin Band the #1 band in the nation. Jim and Susan Burt, and Jere and Anne Fluno provide the momentum needed to establish the "Spirit of Wisconsin Campaign" which provides the Badger Band an endowment fund for uniforms, instruments and travel.
  • 1993 - 70 band members travel to Tokyo where the football team defeats Michigan State to clinch a Rose Bowl berth.
  • 1994 - Band performs at the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1963 and quickly captures the imagination of Southern California as well as the nation.
  • 1995 - Band performs at Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa.
