Audition Procedures for Consideration as a National Anthem Soloist

1. The prospective soloist will submit a tape recording of a performance of the anthem in the key of A flat. The prospective soloist must be prepared to sing the Anthem with band accompaniment in the key of A flat.
2. The prospective soloist will submit a list of performance credits along with at least two letters of recommendation from music authorities (choir director, band director, voice teacher, etc.).
3. If the soloist satisfies the tape review a "live" audition will be scheduled.
4. Actual performances will be determined after the audition by a panel of no less than 2 staff members of the UW Band and/or School of Music.
5. If a soloist is selected the scheduling will be at the discretion of the Band Department in consultation with the appropriate representative of the UW Athletic Department (event manager).
6. It is not to be assumed that a soloist will appear at every game.
7. High School students are ineligible to sing due to NCAA recruiting regulations.
